Contact Music: Nick Lachey is set to become the latest celebrity restaurateur. The ex-98 Degrees singer, 33, is teaming up with socialite Nicky Hilton and That '70s Show star Wilmer Valderrama to open an eaterie in Las Vegas' Luxor Hotel + Casino. The Company American Bistro will open next month (Oct07).

- The commission cancelled the Lachey concert scheduled for July 13 at a loss of $122,317, including a $75,000 nonrefundable deposit for the pop star's performance and more than $36,000 in publicity and advertising costs.
- Commission Spokesman Rich Reitman said ticket sales were moderate in the case of Lachey and declined to give specific reasons for the cancellation, citing contractual obligations.
- The insurance for the Nick Lachey concert would have been $22,000, Sullivan said.

Nick Lachey Buys a Baseball Team
Nick Lachey has a new game up his sleeve: baseball.
The singer is becoming a part owner of a team – the Tacoma Rainiers franchise, the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, he tells PEOPLE in its new issue.
"It had always been a dream of mine to be involved in team sports in general, especially on a local level in your hometown," says Lachey, a self-described "huge baseball fan (who) grew up in Cincinnati, and baseball is kind of a religion there."
A couple years ago, the Cincinnati Reds came up for sale, and "I made an attempt to become a part of the ownership," he says. "Unfortunately, it didn't work out, but it certainly reiterated my interest in having some kind of ownership involvement. So, when this opportunity came around, it felt like a great way to get involved."
Lachey, 33, also tells the magazine, "Sports is – outside of entertainment – my passion. … Clearly I'm not going to be playing for anybody in my lifetime, so to be involved on the ownership level is the next best thing." (The singer is also starting a basketball team with pal A.J. DiScala.)
Lachey's stake actually makes him one-third owner and active investor in the team. Of his business partners, Bob Schlegal and Kirby Schlegal (of Texas, who led the purchase of the sale), Lachey says: "They are partners in Schlegal Sports and have a lot of experience, especially in minor-league sports."
And besides his "getting ready to go back into the studio for a new album," Lachey says his new professional duties will entail his practicing with the team.
"That's the biggest perk," he says. "But I certainly don't want to be one of those meddling owners who is trying to give his influence where it's not wanted."

Stars Take A Star Against Bullies
SINGERS Craig David, Alesha Dixon, Javine and Liz McClarnon are among the stars who've teamed up for a television campaign against bullying. Nick Lachey, Liberty X, Lil Chris and boyband US5 are also taking part in Nickelodeon's See Something, Say Something campaign. The artists have made a series of short films which will be aired on the kids' TV channel during Anti-Bullying Week, November 20 to Friday, November 24. The Daily Record

Nick Takes On Myspace
With the population of Myspace aging - reports say over 50% of MySpace users are now over age 30 - will teens and early twenty-somethings flee from the geezer infested community to a new home? Nick Lachey thinks so. He, along with two partners, is backing a new social networking community called YFly. The network is aimed at "Generation Y" and seems to be banking on Lachey bringing in other celebs to set up profiles. Overall it looks a lot like MySpace. The niche target of Gen Y is what they are looking to use as leverage to separate themselves from the pack of sites springing up attempting to take a chunk of MySpace's dominance.
Given the focus on the younger set, and all the media fixation of linking predators to social networking sites, Nick and his crew seem to be getting out front in assuring parents of their commitment to safety. YFly takes great pains to show they "take safety seriously" and even proclaim their commitment to "working with local, state federal law enforcement, and other related government agencies as needed to protect our members." Very smart to try to create a safe environment -- just as long as the kids don't equate that with boring.
I did check out some of the faces on YFly. Diddy - who is everywhere these days - has got a "celebrity certified" page with 224 friends already! Kristin Cavallari is on board too. Of course, Nick's got his own profile too - complete with concert videos - and he's got a sizable lead over Diddy in the friends race. Funnny though, when I type the last name "Simpson" in the celebrity profile search nothing comes up.

Martin Short, Rachael Ray, Drew Lachey, Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling and CNN host Nancy Grace are among the boldfaced names slated to compete on "Celebrity Jeopardy!" this fall.
The two-week competition, with winnings going to charity, will be taped at Radio City Music Hall, and will be broadcast beginning Nov. 8.
Also on the roster: Regis Philbin, Susan Lucci, James Denton, Doug Savant, Christopher Meloni, Carson Kressley, Neil Patrick Harris, Jane Kaczmarek, Joely Fischer, Dana Delany, Mario Cantone, Soledad O'Brien and designer Isaac Mizrahi.
Each celebrity will earn a guaranteed $25,000 for the charity of his or her choice, and the winner of each show gets a $50,000 charitable pay-off.

Lachey Talk About His Hurt
A solo tour has been a long time coming for Nick Lachey.
"It's definitely been something I've missed,'' Lachey says. ''It's been a good five years since I've been on the road.''
Lachey, who sings at the Rosemont Theatre tonight, says it will be a different experience performing the songs from ''What's Left of Me,'' which were inspired by his split from Jessica Simpson. In the time since the album's release, he explains, this material has taken on a different meaning for him.
''I think I'm in a vastly different place in my life than I was then,'' he says. ''At the time they were written and recorded, I was living those moments. Now those songs just represent a memory, a moment in time that's come and gone, and I think, emotionally, I'm not invested in those the way I'm sure I was at that time.''

Lachey went to Australia earlier this month to promote his album, and his rebound sweetie stayed behind. Friends of the MTV talk show host, however, insist she’s relieved to have a little alone time. “She couldn’t wait for Nick to go because things were getting too heavy,” a friend of Minnillo told Life & Style Weekly, claiming that Lachey has brought up marriage and kids. “Vanessa says Nick’s gone overboard expressing his emotions.” Another source, however, tells the Scoop it’s Lachey who wants a little more alone time. Either way, Minnillo reportedly hasn’t wasted any time looking to fill the man void. Lachey Recorded Song The Day He Was Dumped
Singer Nick Lachey recorded his confessional first single What's Left Of Me on the same day Jessica Simpson told him their marriage was over.
Lachey was planning on spending last year's Thanksgiving holiday with his wife in Texas, until he received a phone call from her telling him she was ending their relationship.
He says the song was recorded: "The day before Thanksgiving, which was basically the day that Jessica told me she wanted to get a divorce."
The former 98 Degrees star has put his feelings about the split into his new as-yet-untitled album which is set to be released on May 23.
He says the highly personal album "is kind of a journal of the last year of my life".
Stacy Keibler Confession: 'I Love Nick Lachey'
Dancing with the Stars babe Stacy Keibler has a new project. The leggy star that went from the WWE to a bit of a Realty TV household name with some fantastic performances on the ABC Reality TV show has admitted she 'loves' Nick Lachey.
No - they aren't dating, but her new project is trying to find Nick a decent girl to date.
Extra TV reported on Thursday night that Nick (one of the most eligible bachelors in Hollywood) has picked up his own personal cupid: "Dancing with the Stars" stunner Stacy Keibler.
Keibler told designers Chip and Pepper that she's looking to make a love connection. "I'm trying to get Nick a good, quality girl," she said.
"I love him. I think he's a fantastic, great guy."

Nick Lachey Takes A Shot Jessica Simpson In New Video
Nick Lachey has lashed out at his soon to be ex-wife Jessica Simpson in song. The former boy bander is hitting the dating circuit pretty heavy, but has reportedly taken some time off to take a shot at Jess in a new video.

“The video is obviously about him and Jessica,” a close source tells Us Weekly magazine. In the video, with MTV VJ Vanessa Minnillo standing in for Simpson, Lachey sings in a house quite similar to the Calabasas, California, home they shared during the three seasons of Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica.
Lachey watches as the objects of their life together gradually disappear around him. In the end, even Minnillo has vanished into the shadows. “The song is all about changes,” Minnillo, 25, host of Total Request Live, tells Us. “Nick is so strong. He’s really putting himself out there as a musician.”
I've yet to see it - but it may be a stretch to say he's "putting himself out there" by singing about a break up.
That's pretty common fare, and it would be an easy leap to say that Nick is using Jess to attempt to revive his singing career.
